Desert Safari

We started the day by going to church, drove home, eat lunch and drive to a place called Mug & Bean to wait for our ride. We went because relatives were visiting and wanted some desert experience. Our ride was called (Biggasizing for emphasis) THE DESERT ROSE desert dune bashing and interactive Bedouin style camp with sand boarding and free unlimited soda and 4x4 bikes and camel riding. We went on a "long or maybe i'm just really impatient" car drive, and did some Dune Bashing.

         
          Dune bashing is bumpy, bouncy, hurty, ouchy, The lot of it combined into a once in a life time experience. Imagine a roller coaster that goes up, down, sideways, other sideways, different down, wait... Anyway I drove in a Toyota Land cruiser with Mom, Dad, and Greta. The others i.e Henry, Eliza, Auntie Bethy, Grandpa, and Uncle Tony, rode in a Nissan Pathfinder.

          Our camp was designed like an Old Bedouin encampment including low tables and cushions instead of chairs. There was camel riding,

4x4 riding,
and free soft drinks. There was even a well/fountain/thingamajigy that actually had a purifier so that they could re-use water so ya know, a bit of cultural heritage there.

          Now for my favorite part, the ENTERTAINMENT!!! My favorite part was riding a 4x4 that Henry was driving,
and (a slight rarity here) nothing bad happened! There was a giant dune, (a pain to climb)
that you could sand board down, unlimited times, ya just gotta wait your turn.
There was camel riding, And also weird belly dancers. 

        Overall an exciting day, full of fun, excitement, and soda.

That's "welcome" in Arabic! It's pronounced "marhaba". Isn't it gorgeous? My family and I have recently been learning Arabic, and we've just started to move on to the numbers after we finished all the letters. I decided to write a blog post on writing numbers in Arabic because I personally love this language and I wanted to share a bit with you. Bear with me as I run you through this latest crash course, and perhaps I'll learn you a thing or two. Right, first off there are some things you should know before I jump into the numbers. Arabic numerals are written left to right, contrary to the way the words are written. The Abu Dhabi Adventure

        Yes! I can finally say that I have been to Abu Dhabi! This post covers all of the best day yet, so I'm going to try a different tactic this time: Yesterday was Mom's first time driving in the UAE. Based on her reaction, I think that she thinks driving is stressful, because her knuckles were pretty white for the hour it took to drive there. Oh, and guess who saw the first camel? ME!!😄 We looked around some neighborhoods we are thinking of living at, then Mom drove us to a mall for a celebratory "We didn't crash" lunch. Since she was the driver, she got to pick where we ate. We ended up at a French restaurant, where we were served  this gourmet ketchup . At the same place, Henry ordered CocaCola, and it came in this way cool glass bottle. Highlights of the past few days:

#1: The Flight from Sioux Falls to Chicago       We started off to the airport from my Grandparents' house. My Aunty drove us there so her family could buy our van. Security was hard on my nerves, but fortunately it passed without incident for us. Waiting for the plane wasn't too bad, and it didn't take too terribly long! Then we finally boarded our plane. It wasn't a big one, but I was comfortable enough. My ears adjusted to the pressurized cabin, as we lifted off the runway. I got a window seat on this time, and I spent most of the one hour and forty minutes of the flight staring out the window at the clouds, and the tiny, itty-bitty peasants beneath me. According to Ben, "I can see why google maps puts the ground into squares because that's what it actually looks like!
